The much publicized upcoming link got me thinking about the optimal viewing order for the Star Wars saga. If you only want to see one movie. The Star Wars saga has spanned decades and multiple trilogies, so it's understandably difficult to understand which movie to start with and which order to go through if someone hasn't seen any of the films before.

But I'm not so certain that this is the best way to watch Star Wars.

Starting in chronological order, I would watch the four Rebels promotional web videos “The Machine in the Ghost”, “Art Attack”, “Entanglement” and “Property of Ezra Bridger” first. Viewing order: IV, V, II, III, VI, VII, VIII, IX. A few notes on method: In general the movies and shows occur in chronological order based on their release date, but with some notable exceptions.

What follows is a rundown on the only four *viable* ways to view the Star Wars saga that I can think of.

George Lucas led the original and prequel Star Wars trilogies, which began with A New Hope in 1997 and ended with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith in 2005. The logical approach is to view the movies in episodic order (which is how Cinemax plans to air it).
